. that where's the san jose city college campus was put on lockdown at about 4:30 this afternoon. at this point authoritys are focussing mainly on one building tshs tech building. that's where robert honda is live tonight with an update on a room to room search for a possible gunman. robert. >> gasia, we are outside the technology bilgd. at one time the search was going on building to building across much of the campus. now the focus has shifted to the technology building. it was mainly a precaution in terms of the rest of the campus because the original call that came in the initial text message basically said that they thought they saw a gunman in the area of the tech building. now, we've been watching as blis swarm this building going floor by floor and we've seen the light kind of giving us an indication of where the search has been going. now, if you can see, we just a few minutes ago the lights came on on the top floor and, again, the students and faculty that were inside during the lockdown were told to keep their lights off and the blinds closed so any kind of light like that probably i

the identity of the young man shot and killed by police in a bay area city that rarely sees the type of violence. ktvu's jana katsuyama is live in walnut creek this evening to tell us what neighbors heard in the middle of the night. jana. >> reporter: that's right we have confirmed that the man who was shot and killed by police is anthony banta. he lives in that apartment come lek -- apartment complex right across the street. and his neighbors tell us he was a hairdresser that works just across the way. tonight we found the front window boarded up at apartment 60 where the man killed anthony banta lives. walnut creek police tells us they got a call from the apartment complex. the dispatcher could hear screaming in the background. police say when officers arrived about six minutes later banta was armed with a weapon inside the apartment. police say officers were forced to shoot banta. today neighbors say the gunshots woke them up. >> i heard something that sounded like seven to eight shots. >> i saw six or seven officers busting into the apartment with a lot of gunfire and running in

police are trying to track down the person who gunned down a young man in the city's bay view district. police say the 18-year-old victim was shot at least once at about 10:00 last night on oceola lane near lasalle. a friend of the victim's drove him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. his name has not yet been released. >>> an investigation under way after a passer by discovered a body. at about 11:30 this morning, district police were notified of a body that had been discovered at point pinol regional. the body is that of a male but didn't release any other details. they have not said yet whether the body could be that of a 77- year-old man that went missing in island strait last week. investigators hope to have more information tomorrow. >>> a hiker reports a sexual assault, we have details on how authorities are handling an attack on a well used east bay trail. >>> pushing for tighter gun laws, a bill senator dianne feinstein plans to introduce in an effort of keeping others including children from becoming victims of a mass shooting. >> charlotte, daniel, olivia, josephi
